New Carnival: Run For Cover
A portrait of one man’s aggression for the Bristolian rockers' latest
For the new track from indie rock outfit New Carnival, the Bristol-based band’s drummer Bertie Crawley explored anger and aggression with a meditative visual centered on one capoeirista's countdown to battle. Here, Crawley talks about his directorial offering:
"This video, essentially a cry about the state of unchangeable circumstances, is a study of aggression.
“Aggression does not need to be about anger”
"I selected capoeiristas because they simulate violence without ever carrying out that implicit threat. They are beautiful to watch. This video is about co-operation as much as it is about aggression. Aggression does not need to be about anger, it can be cathartic—the release of personal, pent-up rage in a way that does not incite hate."
