Frederic Sanchez

In the years since he began working with sound in 1988, Frédéric Sanchez has established himself as a master conjurer of sonic worlds. His first gig in fashion was designing the catwalk soundtrack (well, more of an aural tableau) for Belgian avant-gardist Martin Margiela; he’s since been summoned to curate sound for runway shows and film advertisements for some of fashion’s heaviest hitters, including Prada, Hermès, Valentino, Balmain, Chloé, Roger Vivier, Marc Jacobs and Ann Demeulemeester. When Prada opened its Tokyo store, Sanchez worked with Herzog & de Meuron to develop its signature “sound shower” installation. Artistic collaborators range from Louise Bourgeois to Larry Clark and Jack Pierson, and Sanchez curated the tribute show “Gainsbourg 2008,” at Cité de la Musique in Paris, with help from Serge Gainsbourg’s family. in 2010, Sanchez completed the independent film Le Soldat Sans Visage.
