Bicoastal photographer and bon vivant Douglas Friedman’s career began after he left his post-college job as assistant to David Fincher in Los Angeles and purchased a one-way ticket to Indonesia. He spent the next year and a half exploring Asia, Africa and Europe and documenting his experience, from Sherpas to sharks, with a Nikon F4. Upon returning to the States, this time to his native New York, Friedman began to study photography in earnest, discovering a particular interest in architecture and design. He has since photographed subjects ranging from interiors to celebrities for publications including The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, V, Vogue, Wallpaper, Elle Décor, House and Garden and Vanity Fair. In 2007, “Latitudes,” Friedman’s debut show, was sponsored by the house of Valentino; subsequent exhibitions have taken place at Roark Gallery in East Hampton and in New York City, while his latest, "Take it Off," was held at Jean De Merry's Melrose Place store in May 2010. At present, Friedman is working on a number of editorial assignments, developing a TV project and preparing for a Los Angeles presentation titled “JFK→ LAX.” View additional work credits on MyFDB.
