Todd Cole

profile picture

Light and nature figure prominently in Todd Cole’s moody photographs and videos—perhaps unsurprisingly, as he lives and works in Southern California, a landscape saturated with both. His fashion editorials and portraits appear frequently in i-D, Purple, Vogue and The New York Times T Magazine, among others. A recent solo show of Cole’s work, “I’m Yours to Keep,” at the Brachfeld Gallery in Paris, explored themes of displacement and sexuality amid swathes of empty road, sun-and-shadow-drenched bodies and glaring sun. For NOWNESS, Cole collaborated with friends and fellow SoCal residents Rodarte and No Age on Aanteni, a sublimely paranoiac video hallucination shot on the abandoned streets of Downtown LA and at Elon Musk’s sci-fi SpaceX jet facility in Hawthorne, California. His book of new personal work is destined for release in spring 2011 courtesy of the Brooklyn-based boutique publisher AndPress. View additional work credits on MyFDB.
