Björk, Brian Eno, U2—since ditching his psychology studies at Manchester University for a job as a studio tea boy, beats mastermind Howie B (né Bernstein) has risen to work with some of the biggest names in music. The native Glaswegian, now based in London, started in production in the early 90s, assisting soundtrack composer Stanley Myers (The Deer Hunter) for several years and, in his free time, spinning an of-the-moment fusion of hip-hop, electronica, soul and funk in the clubs of London. He has worked as an engineer on Björk’s Post and helped produce U2’s Pop, and provided music for Wim Wenders’s The End of Violence. Howie is currently busy on a slew of projects-in-progress.
