Babes at the Museum: F.I.T.

Nerdy-chic style blog Babes at the Museum headed to New York's Fashion Institute of Technology with photographer Jeremy Liebman to capture the most alluring ladies at the opening of Daphne Guinness, a showcase of the British fashion icon’s legendary sartorial collection. BATM founder Xavier Aaronson started the quirky site earlier this year as an homage to the culturally inclined beauties he observed when taking in Manhattan’s latest artistic offerings. “At museums, the elements of attraction are neutralized—it’s not like a bar or a discotheque where people often remark on people’s appearance,” explains Aaronson. Taking a more conceptual approach than other style-oriented photo blogs, BATM works within very narrow parameters: the subjects must be at a museum or gallery or be standing near a work of art, often requiring him to beg the forgiveness of anti-photography security guards. “I like to shoot people who are discrete, minimal and don’t really call too much attention to themselves,” says Aaronson, “take people who usually get lost amidst the art or in a sea of people and make them stand out.” Though Guinness, who made an appearance at the opening, is the antithesis of a fashion wallflower, Aaronson spotted more than enough suitable girls in the gallery.
