Summer Lovin'

Donovan Leitch, Annie Morton and Liberty Ross Cavort Poolside in a Tucker Film

Models Annie Morton and Liberty Ross hole up in a Palm Springs bungalow for a retro-glam romp with actor Donovan Leitch in today's short. Directed by noted set designer Happy Massee and soundtracked by Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck’s “Heaven Can Wait,” the film was shot at Tucker designer Gaby Basora’s grandmother’s home and references the 60s Hollywood spirit of Steve McQueen and Marilyn Monroe. “Everything from the house to the clothes to the perfect weather just created this vibe,” Massee says of the nostalgic aesthetic. New York-based Basora began designing in 2005 in a bid to add a little punch to her own closet and quickly found a cult following; the summer 2011 collection includes free-flowing maxi-dresses and jumpsuits, as well as the brand’s trademark blouses and rompers, all finished in signature bold prints. This spring, Basora will open a flagship in the West Village while continuing to set her sights on screen. "My mom had an art house movie theater when I was growing up in Seattle, and in lieu of a babysitter, we’d just sit there and watch whatever was playing, over and over again, until it was time to go. So I have this long relationship with film," she says.
