Trentemøller: Late Night Tales
The Electro-Artist Tailors A Cinematic Setlist for After-Dark
Danish electronic musician and producer Anders Trentemøller delivers a shoegaze interpretation of Chris Isaak's twangy gothic classic, "Blue Hotel," sung by Marie Fisker and Steen Jørgensen, for today's premiere. “I tried to take it to a different place by taking the tempo down and making it more noisy and dusty,” he explains. The track is included on the latest edition of the Late Night Tales compilation series, which has seen the likes of Belle and Sebastian, Air and the Flaming Lips share mixes since its inception in 2001. Trentemøller pulled from a personal playlist of favorites, including classics such as “Venus in Furs” by the Velvet Underground and newer cuts like The Black Angels’ “Science Killer.” With two albums to his credit, 2006’s The Last Resort, and last year's Into the Great Wide Yonder, the Copenhagen-based artist has won a following for a sound he describes as "atmospheric and darkly cinematic", and has created remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand and U.N.K.L.E. Late Night Tales: Trentemøller is available on May 30.
