On the Eleventh Day of Christmas

Photographer Marcus Gaab’s wanderlust led him to Bali’s Alila Villas Soori resort for his newest conceptual film, premiered today on NOWNESS. Sure, the opulent property’s majestic views of paddy fields and its sleek architecture by Singapore-based architects SCDA caught his eye, but it was the spa’s Vichy shower treatment that seduced him: a cathartic regimen that entails lying on a heated marble bed beneath six exposed pipes capped with showerheads in stone-walled surroundings. One half of the team behind fashion-forward print biannual I Love You Magazine (with wife Christiane Bördner), Gaab is also the creator of photo-journalistic travel blog Endless. The site is set to morph into a print magazine this spring and will include further dispatches from his Balinese adventure. “It’s all about new sensations,” he says of his latest project.
