New Miu

A Look at Miu Miu's Colorful Resort Collection as a New Boutique Opens in London

Prada’s other line once again proves that it has an identity very much apart from it's longer established sibling with the opening of a Miu Miu store on London's Bond Street in early December. The elegant two-level boutique, replacing the current shop just up the road, was created by architect Roberto Baciocchi, and will dedicate the entire ground level to accessories. On the first floor, customers will encounter both of Miu Miu’s current collections: the ultra-short mod dresses of Fall and the pop prints of Resort. As the less cerebral of the two brands, Miu Miu's license to give its designs a little cheek and humor is evidenced by Resort, which featured clashing prints of stripes, apples, polka dots and hearts in vibrant colors. The collection loosely riffed on a lingerie theme with easy shapes in luxurious fabrics, such as crepe de chine and satin, that brought to mind 70s Yves Saint Laurent. Accessories were bright and bold with bangles piled high on the arm, Perspex pendants and earrings carrying the same motifs as the prints, and vibrantly colored stacked heels––perfect for strolling down a Havana street at dusk.
