A Place Like No Other

Capri from Assouline

By the 50s, Capri had become a byword for glamor and a magnet for the international jet set: the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy and Truman Capote mixed and mingled with Italy’s beautiful people on their annual vacations. The island’s inherent fashion-consciousness is, these days, exemplified by the myriad designer boutiques - from Prada to Armani and Dolce & Gabbana - that line the streets of Capri town, offering slick, shiny contrasts to its pebble-strewn bays and sandy beaches.

Capri is a magical place. An island that might as well be a different world. Beauty is a word not worthy to describe Capri.
