Where Raf Simons ventures, others follow. Integral to the continuing success of the Belgian Designer—who in 2009 celebrates 15 years at the forefront of fashion—is the subtlety of his casting process for his shows and campaigns. Raf’s street-cast boys are chosen to represent that tender transitional period between adolescence and adulthood that is the central inspiration of Simons’s severe, angst-ridden designs. Pierre Debusschere’s short film, full of chilly grace and barely restrained aggression, was filmed during the fittings for Raf Simons’s spring/summer 2010 menswear collection.
